Manual tear strength tester single-slit tear test principle
  • 2024-06-27 18:23:24

Manual tear strength tester is used to test the impact tearing strength of textiles, woven fabrics, non-woven fabrics and coated fabrics.

Applicable standards:

GB3917.1 "Tear Properties of Textile Fabrics Part 1: Determination of Tear Strength Impact Pendulum Method"

FZ/T6006-1991 "Determination of tearing strength of nonwoven fabrics"

FZ/T75001-1993-1999 "Tearing strength test method of coated fabrics"

ASTMD1424-96 "Determination of tearing strength of fabrics by impact pendulum method-Elmendorf"

ASTMD5734-96 "Determination of tearing strength of non-woven fabrics by impact pendulum method-Elmendorf"

The main parameters:

1. Mechanical type, pointer display;

2. Test range: 400,800, 1600, 3200&6400gms (counterweight optional);

3. Test accuracy: ±0.5%;

4. Pendulum restoration: manual.

Test principle:

When tearing with a single seam method, a stress-bearing triangle is formed at the tear of the fabric. When the stressed weft yarns in the sample gradually separate up and down, the warp yarns that are not directly stressed begin to have some relative sliding with the stressed weft yarns, and gradually move closer to form an approximate triangular area. At the bottom of the tear opening, the warp yarns in the stressed triangle are jointly subjected to tension. Among them, the front warp yarn near the bottom of the triangle is stressed, and the stress of other warp yarns gradually weakens according to a certain load gradient. Due to the frictional resistance between yarns, sliding is limited. During sliding, the tension of warp yarns increases rapidly, and the deformation and elongation also increase sharply. When the front warp yarn that forms the base of the stressed triangle is stretched to breaking elongation, this warp yarn breaks, and the stress state of the second warp yarn is immediately converted to the state before the front warp yarn breaks. Repeatedly, the warp yarn continues Continuous fractures occur one after another, forming a fracture surface that looks like a knife cut. It can be seen that when tearing with a single seam method, the broken yarn is a yarn in a non-tension system, and the direction of the tensile force is perpendicular to the original axis of the broken yarn. A special pendulum can be used to test thick textiles. Add up to 64,000mN of weight and also use a heavy duty specimen cutter.
